Hello, I'm looking to buy a cage for my two Guinea pigs, it's the typical pet shop cage they're in L95 x W57 x H46cm. Well they are getting bigger every month so I have been thinking for month about what cage to get them so many pros and cons looking at youtube, forums and threads. the space I have 213.36cm to fill but only about 60cm depth (weird shaped room). Any advise of what would be the best option? I hate DIY as I generally muck things up, but I do need a cage. Thank you!

http://www.candcguineapigcages.co.uk/standard-cages/ - 185cm x 77cm £54.99

http://www.cagesworld.co.uk/p/Midwest_Guinea_Habitat.htm - 120cm x 60cm - £33.99

I would always go as big as possible so the c and c cage is better as it will give more space.

i would go for the c&c cage. They are really easy to construct.Mine love theirs and you can put lofts on or rejig shape or add to it if you find at a later date you can fit a bigger one in somewhere.

You can get the c&c grids on ebay 30 for £36.99 (Coroplast/Correx Not included) but I've used a car boot liner as the base or you could use a waterproof tablecloth, as suggested by the Rescue I went to.

Just search c&c cages (I tried putting the link but it didn't work)

I found them the best way of making the right size cage in the space I have, a normal cage just wouldn't have worked. I can then change or adapt it.

Thank you very much I looked at the cage i wanted and counted the grids which was 15! I bought the grids of eBay the 30 for £36.99 and will buy a tablecloth will build it and see how it goes when it comes :)
I appreciate all the suggestions thanks again everyone! :)

i have a shower curtain then incontinence pads then a main fleece. Have litter trays at one end with fleece pegged over the cage to encourage them to use them and extra towel and fleece the other end where their hideys are as they ocassionally pea there and i just have to replace the smaller pieces when wet then the main fleece once a fortnight

I use fleece which my Guinnies decided to go under and muck up. First it was saw dust but I didn't like it as both Guinea pigs and myself kept sneezing, fleece and new paper but Guinea pigs use to bring the fleece up and eat the paper, fleece and towels, I found towels reeked after a few days use, the poop use to stick to the towel. I now have back to nature which I did just use for their Litter tray which they have stopped using. Back to nature is doing well doesn't smell and the fleece is comfortable for their little paws... They still bring up the fleece though to go under! Trial and error ^_^ I'm hoping with the big cage, I can put their tunnel and hut back as (it was too big to put in the small cage) so they won't feel the need to go hide under the fleece. Find the back to nature difficult to spot clean with fleece you can get all the poop.

if it is a c&c you could either weight the fleece down so they cant get under it or clip it to the sides of the c&c on the outside.I tried fleece with my rats and gave up as they just chewed holes in it and went under it. Thye are now on finacard with papelit in their litter trays. The towels need changed when wet or they will stink. Mine do most wees in litter trays or wher i have put the extra fleece so it works really well for me. It is trial and error and whatever works for you and your piggies.

Well, c c grids arrived yesterday and I set them it up fit all their toys and bed in - very happy Guinea pigs. :) haven't gone under the fleece I've pin it down with pegs although the little rascals do pull the fleece to get under it. :)
