Hi,
I saw a cute soft kitten igloo with a microwaveable pad in p@home but the pad was one of those wheat ones. Are they suitable for piggies or should we just use the hard disc ones? I'm a nervous new pig owner, especially with these colder nights!

I wouldn't use wheat ones as they would most likely rip it open thinking its food. To be safe i would use the snugglesafe ones and put them inside a bed instead,...or in a nice pile of hay :)

Thank you. We've only had the pigs for a few weeks so they've not done much ripping yet, other than the pricey seagrass 3 way tunnel I bought them (AND replaced- soft touch!).

Yes mine dont tend to rip...unless they think its edible. I always think best to be safe than sorry :) The snuggle safe pads are very good, i have two :)

What do yours sleep in? (Looking for good tips).
Well mine live indoors, but we dont have central heating, just a few gas/ electric fires. So i use snuggle safe heat pads, fleece blankets over the cage, piggie cozies/cuddle cups, lots of hay, and keeping them clean is very important, as wee gets cold quickly, so keeping their cage clean/bedding clean is important :)

Thanks, it's really helpful to see what others do. Yours sound very comfy! I'll definitely put some fleecy comfy beds in for them. One last question (if you don't mind) - how often should the beds be washed, and what do you wash them with?

No problem :) I wash as and when, usually every 2 days aprox (sometimes more oftern- sometimes less- as they like to wee/poo in them, but it just depends how dirty/wet they are). I use normal washing powder, but no conditioner as it stops the fleece beds from wicking.

Thanks for all your help. Your pigs are gorgeous. The long haired one looks similar to our Pedro (female! Named by youngest!).
