Hi all
I am thinking of making a mezzanine area in the shed. I am aware a lot of piggies are not too bothered about levels and I know they don't count towards floor space but in the shed is a big 6 foot single level hutch and I wondered if it would be a good use of space to create a mezzanine area over the top of it. It would be pretty much level with the window so may be a nice winter sun bathing area. What do you think? The ramp could run the whole way along the back of the shed (5.5ft) so could be a nice gradual incline and obviously will be carpeted and enclosed too.
My main reason for posting is I am not sure what height the surrounding barrier needs to be to ensure their safety. Can anybody advise please?

I agree.
My boys live in my shed. I have it surrounded inside with c&c grids (to stop them being able to chew the shed frame). I have, in the past, had a loft level in (using the c&c grids) and it is just one grid high (about 30cm) but I tend to put another grid over the top to make a roof. I don’t have the loft in now as I find with 8ft by 4 1/2ft of space my pigs just don’t have any interest in going up to the loft with so much floor space available to them.

The whole floor area is 6 ft x 5.5ft so a decent bit of space, the hutch is slightly raised too so they can utilise the space underneath also. Maybe its a pointless idea...
