Metacam...first time

Picchu has been prescribed Metacam for the first time for a sprained leg. I gave him his first dose at around 11:30am today. Tomorrow I will be leaving for work at 8am and not back until 6pm. Would it be better to do tomorrow's dose before I leave for work or when I get back. One will be slightly less than 24 hrs between doses and one slightly more. Not sure which is better as I've never had to do this before.

So he has only been prescribed it once a day? What dose has been given?

If he has only been prescribed it once a day, then I would do it tomorrow morning before work to be honest. Piggies can take fairly high doses and take it every 12 hours

That’s a really small dosage for cat metacam especially if it’s only once a day. Dog metacam is 3 times the strength of cat metacam and can be given in much higher dosages. I would phone your vet in the morning and see if the dosage can be increased and split in to two dosages every 12 hours
