Metacam dose for weight 640grams

I got 0,5 ml metacam once a day prescribed from my first vet. We have moved to another vet clinic (we haven’t been there yet but will visit next week) and they wanted me to increase the dose to 1ml a day. Her weight is 640 grams and I am wondering if it’s a safe dose?
It’s the metacam for cats.

The initial prescription was borderline cosmetic for guinea pigs which need much higher dosages (and tolerate them much better) than other pet species; there is now some research going on how medication is absorbed in the main fermentation chamber of the gut.

Your second vet was right in doubling it. You can either give it once daily or half every ca. 12 hours if that suits you better; a single daily dose has more impact whereas a split dose may be better in acute major pain to get initial better round the clock cover until it has built up in the body more.

I hope that you will see a notable improvement within a few days.
