Hi,

So I have finally found a localish stockist. I say local it's 18 miles away! I am planning to go on weekend and as it is so far want to stock up. I have been using vetbed but now I have had to split my nero 4 in half there is no room for litter trays under the hayrack and it is a nightmare!

Firstly how much would it take to for a nero 4 would it be half a bag or whole bag? secondly are the bags sealed? could they be kept in a shed (mine has a bit of damp so don't want it getting wet!) Also how often does it need replacing is it 3/4 days for whole cage or can you get away with removing soggy bits and changing once a week?

I have a roughly 5.5 by 2.3 C&C build, two tiers plus each tier has a hayloft/ extra small level, and one sack of Megazorb does both plus two smaller Ferplast cages, with a bit left over. That's with all cages done with more depth rthan is really required!

I generally just clean the whole lot out, but if your piggies mess up one area in particular then you can just clean out that bit and top up. As for how often it needs changing, that depends how many pigs, if they have definite litter corners or just use the whole thing as an open lavatory, etc.

I wouldn't keep it anywhere damp once opened, although it should be OK in a shed unopened. I say OK, I'd prefer to have it somewhere properly dry, but used to have to get it from someone who bought it by the pallet for their horses and sold the excess sacks, and they kept it in an open fronted outbuilding. I was never convinced, but it seemed useable.

I think I travel about 18 miles or so each way for mine, so I just buy 3 or 4 sacks (which isn't easy during the times I've only got my Midget on the road!). Costs less in petrol than delivery for one sack ordered online, and it's only £5.50 a sack from the farm shop too :)

thats great advice thanks I might re-think and clear out my other shed. I have two and one of them is not damp but kinda full of appliances etc.. I have old furtinture etc.. which I need to take to the tip so will **** end up killing two birds at weekend. It will be a good excuse to get some tidying up done!

You could try sticking the old furniture and stuff on Freecycle maybe? Depends how worn out it all is, but there's plenty of peopel crying out for free old stuff with a bit of life left in it. Saves having to trek back and forth to the tip too :)

very warn out, left in shed by previous owners. I have been here a year now but never got round to chucking it all out!

I find it really economical and one sack does my whole shed - which is 3 x 6ft levels, one large pen 6' x 4' plus extension, and another block of 6. You don't need a thick layer like you would with shavings. I use a bowl to scoop it up and sprinkle it until it covers the newspaper, then pat it down to form a layer. Once you've done this you can spot clean it quite easily by sweeping the poops. It's very absorbent

I've just started using Megazorb and its great, love it ....... piggies seem to like it to, I don't think they were too sure about the vet bed.

Hi, I use megazorb and have 2 nero 4's and also a zoozone 2 (for travelling) I cleaned out all 3 today and used about half a bag..the bag was open from the last clean where I needed some for half the nero as the other bag ran out...so I would say 1bag=5/6 Nero 4 changes. Its really good value for money :)

I have been using it for a couple of weeks. I like the look of it, to me it looks more natural than shavings. It is easier to handle, I just scoop it out rather than have to prise compacted shavings out of a bag.

I find it dearer though, but instead of spot cleaning the corners etc. I have been totally cleaning out. That is something that I thought I might be doing wrong and will try spot cleaning instead.

I have to say I really do like it. I have found a stockist reasonably local and that will work out cheaper than ordering it on-line for me.

Milly's bumblefoot seems a little better on Megazorb. I haven't been using shavings for her for many weeks, just newspaper and hay but that wasn't absorbent enough, but Megazorb seems really good.

I really like it and have done a spot clean this morning, and it doesn't smell at all ......... fab :(|)

well i got three bags yesterday and am very impressed! it hardly took any to cover the bottom of the cage and tiger loves it he was popcorning and running around like mad when I put him in it! It does smell a bit funny but I think I'll get used to it in time

Where is your stockist? I go over to chew valley for mine but if there is one nearer that would be good.

I'm a fan of megazorb now. I thought it would be too expensive for my lot but it definitely keeps them drier and smells less. It is quite dusty indoors but as I have them in their own room it's not so much of an issue as when they were in the lounge.
