Alfonzo always lived with Cesar his brother. Then Cesar died and I got Alfonzo neutered and rescued a sow from a breeder that was getting rid of 40+ pigs. She was in a cage with about 6 or 7 others. Alfonzo used to steal food but I never heard any arguments between him and his brother, possibly because Cesar was very submissive and non confrontational. Alfonzo and Senna have been together for a while now, approx 5-6 months. They used to have the odd teeth chattering session but generally they'd take themselves to their separate beds and that would be fine. Recently it's become a lot more frequent. They'd wake me up at 7.50am on the dot with loud teeth chattering for about a week. Now it's a few times a day. It seems to be Senna that's on the offense..... Alfonzo just climbed over the log tunnel to get away from her, which he's never climbed before. It's not been sudden, it's been gradual. I'm wondering if this could be a health thing or if they're just not meant to be? I've just put an extra bed in the way to split the cage in half to let them cool off.
They have 2 beds, 2 water bottles, 2 bowls and 2 hay racks. They're in a skyline maxi but their 2 tier 4ftx2ft hutch is almost finished.... Maybe they'll be better with more space? I do feel the cage is a bit crampt for their personalities.....

Thoughts anyone?

I would have Senna checked for small growing ovarian cysts; they sometimes cause aggressive behaviour. It's happened with one of my sows. thankfully, these days there are hormone treatments as an alternative to a big spaying operation.

Good that you got medical care and that it was comparatively more easily to treat hay poke than ovarian cysts! I hope that she is better now. Thanks for the update.

Just to clarify I got her an appointment first thing on Saturday morning, I didn't wait until today! I've just been working on a farm over the weekend with no Internet/phone signal so couldn't update. Went straight from the vets. Pigs enjoyed their holiday with me in the farm conservatory lol! We have a follow up appointment tomorrow morning so hopefully will have the all clear from the vet. Her eye is looking much better and she's not flying at Alfonzo anymore :)
