Rowan! Means "little red one" in gaelic.. The Rowan Tree has warm colours, white leaves and red berries.. And also ties into the sweetie theme of names my sows have- "Rowantree" the makers of fruit pastilles! All perfect for a red eyed, warm coloured little beauty.

She is around 10-16 weeks. I'd say the size of a 16 week old, but the weight of a 10 week old.

I believe fate led me to this little girl- my bereaved sow poppet had a horrendous night on saturday, screaming, pacing, bar biting.. So i went to p@h to get her some goodies in the morning, as well as her favourite "carrot house". I had called 26 p@h stores the day before, to enquire about any guinea pigs under the care of the support adoption for pets rescue charity- there wasnt a single sow in a 100 mile radius. I asked the store colleage again when i was in yesterday, on a whim.. And he brought through Rowan. Abandoned, no longer wanted by a kid and just discarded like an old toy. I had 2 potential rescue sows (at different times) in the pipeline, but neither situation felt right. I believe Poppet led me to this little one.

She now has a companion.. As well as a new carrot house!

Aw bless, another little beauty has landed on her feet. She is gorgeous, well done to you and Poppet for giving her a happy ending to her sad start.

Just looked Rowan's photos again... very unusual colours she has, beautiful!

Shes white, lilac and creamy/ginger! Shes so beautiful but so skinny bless her. She already rumbles and will do the whole head raising thing with poppet, which makes me think shes older.. But shes only 350g! Well, 411g this morning!

Absolutely love this! If only I could like the post more than once! I really love the name (I have a thing for that kind of names) even more than Violet. And it seems to be absolutely perfect for her!
I'm really happy for you and Poppet

I am so pleased for you and Poppet Adelle, poor Poppet feeling the loss of her friend so much, pleased you have managed to find her the perfect new friend. This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship I reckon and Rowen has landed on her paws with you as her new mum x

It's strange how animals just seem to turn up when you need them.We took in a rabbit and a guinea pig that were in terrible conditions and extremely scared. The guinea pig went in with my girls after quarantine and they took to her straight away. She was taking food out of my hand within a week and investigating me while I swept them out.Alice, the bunny was also lonely and scared.Went in pets at home for rabbit pellets for her and asked jokingly did they have any males that needed a home. The guy went into the back and brought out Harley, he was about an hour away from putting him in the adoption cage.Pets at home pay for neutering so Alice got her companion. He is super confident bunny as he was nursed back to health by staff. They took to each other straight away.IMAG0216.webp

Beautiful piggy, but I have to say Fudge is still the bestest.

Just catching up @Adelle on everything I missed while I was on holiday, and this thread really bought a smile to my face.
You new baby is just gorgeous, and I am so happy for both you and Poppet - you deserve something to smile about.

i think she has got to be one of the best selfie birthday presents ever, she is gorgeous
fate can be a marvellous thing & it appears to have really done you all proud on this occasion
Poppet = isn't lonely now & has a new pad mate
Rowan = isn't left with some snotty nose & marmite kid that didn't want her (probably left alone at the end of the garden anyway  ) pretty much landed on her paws with you &turned into a lucky little lady after a bad start
Adelle = gets the most gorgeous :luv: baby minipig as a birthday surprise (because you didnt think you would find her when you walked into P@h )
Forum members = we get to ogle at more pictures of another guinea in your gorgeous herd :D:clap:

a lovely name too very appropriate (according to www.thenamemeaning.com The Rowan Tree of English origin is a symbol of protection, healing, and balance also.:tu: )
