Hey - I just came across this thread, I can see you posted recently. I just wanted to say I'm so sorry about Yuki. Maybe some more experienced members of the forum will be able to provide you with some ideas about why it happened - but I just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you. Yuki was clearly loved for the time you had her. xx
First I'm very sorry for your loss of the lovely Yuki! May she rest in peace.
Second- obviously I cannot give you a definite reason as to why she sadly passed but I can give you my own estimations. How old was she when you got her? It is possible age was sold to you too young and taken away from mum too early. Where did you get her? Pet stores aren't always the cleanest or best kept of places or perhaps the breeder they got her from was ultimately to blame. It could also be down to shock - something which can happen and does lead to the piggy passing in cases.
My friend obtained a baby guinea pig (awhile ago) from a breeder a little teddy I believe. She woke up the next morning and he had passed- she came to the conclusion she had been given a guinea pig that was younger then 3 weeks because he was tiny.
Was she only a baby? She looks so cute I'm so sorry for your loss did you take first few photos with a flash x
So sorry for the loss of Yuki, she was beautiful. RIP little one. Enjoy the Rainbow Bridge. Hugs to you during this time.
I read online sometimes flash can startle them maybe that's why she passed suddenly. Oh I'm so sorry this is awful for you big hugs xThanks. She came from a small pet shop, the cages there are quite well kept and the lady who owns the shop loves guinea pigs. so it was most likely the breeder. what could have caused shock? She seemed to be settling into her new home well.
Yes she was and the camera did accidently flash at her, it made her eyes look redder than they really were.

Have you contacted pet shop ? Bless you she was beautiful xI feel that's unlikely because it happened over 24 hours before she died, and she didn't seem startled, she was eating well and exploring her cage happily, but yeah I know you shouldn't flash pets, it isn't good for them. but I've already decided it's either genetic weakness or the pet shop just sold her too dam young, It's very sad and I won't be getting pets from that place again! I also got a hamster there awhile back and he suddenly died after just a few months
Thank you for the big hugs, Yuki was very loved even know she wasn't here long
