Hey everyone! I just got 2 guinea pigs today. They are both males. One is named is levi and one is named luca. I have never owned guinea pigs before so any tips are appreciated. They are about 1 month old! They are currently in the midwest guinea pig habitat. Is this an ok cage? I have done lots of research and I think it's pretty ideal.

Hi and welcome. I’ll link to some guides below for you to have a read through. There’s too much to cover here! What I will say is that boars need more space so your cage needs to be minimum 150x60cm. We recommend 180x60cm after some members’ experiences though.

We’d love to see photos of your boys. Give them a week to settle in then you should start the weekly weighing as part of their lifelong health checks. Please also double check that they’re boars, especially if you got them from a pet shop or breeder or private person. Link to sexing guide is below too. Ask as many questions as you want ☺️

We would love to see some pictures!

As siikibam has said, a Midwest cage will not be big enough for a boar pair (a Midwest measures 120x60 which is fine for sows, but not for boars). They really need a cage of 180x60cm (6ft x 2ft) (150x60cm as a minimum, but my boar pair were originally in a cage of 150 and it clearly was not enough space for them). Too small of a cage won’t do them any favours as boars are more territorial and need a lot more space than two sows do. I would look to get them a new/bigger/extend your cage as soon as possible.

The guides below are specific to keeping boars, do give them a good read so you know what to expect on keeping boars, particularly once they hit their teens.
