Our vet put Penny on SMZ TMP susp.
She takes it twice a day. She had been sneezing a lot for a few weeks. No other symptoms but the sneezing was unusual. The vet also saw traces of nasal discharge on her paws from rubbing her little nose. 😕 He took a culture from her nose but we dont get that back for a couple weeks. Has anyone used this drug on their piggie before? How did it go? Thank you. 💗

Is SMZ TMP sulfatrim? I guess it must be, sulfamethoxazole trimethoprim...
Very safe for piggies and usually well tolerated, along with baytril one of the first line ordinary on-label antibiotic for piggies. Good your vet took a culture to make sure, but from the symptoms you describe this is a very mild respiratory illness, if there is any infection at all- sulfatrim is a good place to start :)

Thank you very much for replying and sharing the information. As of today (2 days on med.) I have not heard 1 sneeze from lil' Penny.
