I've not used medibed specifically but in the past I have used the russel rabbit chopped straw bedding and personally I found it awful in terms of absorbency and odour control - I can't really see how the medibed would be much different being made of the same thing. It would perhaps be okay if mixed with another more absorbent bedding though.
