I've had to have a quick reshuffle of guinea pigs and rabbits (due to a rabbit fight because of one of them getting out of their pen) so had to move Lola and Sukie to a rabbit cage for now, so the offendind rabbit can go out in the guinea pig hutch and run.

I'll move them back as soon as possible (have to get my bro to drive me to a shop to buy some stuff to fix a cage, maybe tomorrow or the day after if I'm lucky).

But for now they're in the rabbit cage which has a bar spacing of about 1.5inches at most. I don't think their heads can fit through the spaces, but am scared of them choking themselves. If they get out of the cage it's in a shed, so they won't escape, and I'm fairly sure my rabbits won't attack them, since they don't seem territorial to the piggies, but it is a risk.

So does anyone know the maximum safe bar spacing for smallish female guinea pigs? They're almost fully grown.

Thanks :)

P.S. Oh and if it's confusing, the guinea pigs won't get out of the cage the same way the rabbit did, because they can't get up that high. :) And they're in a pen alone, not with the rabbits or anything, so don't worry about that!

Well just saw guinea pig cages says 1.5 is the maximum and measured the space which is about 1.5 so hopefully that'll be fine.

And they're delighted to be in a 6ft X 2.5ft pen! I can't wait til their new cages are ready because then they'll have that space all the time.

The only other option I can think of is to put them in a large cat carrier for the night, but it'd be kinda unfair on them. it'd be safer, but they might be in there until tomorrow afternoon or even the next day, depending on when my brother will drive me to the shop.
