Right sorry for the disgusting picture and the fact that I am holding the poo (it was the only way I could show the size of it) but my boy has just produced this monster! He always has quite large poo compared to his brother but I've never seen anything this size! Is this normal or could there be something wrong with my boys health?

Holy wow that is long! It looks so perfectly formed in every other way though!

Was it just the one?
Is he pooping normally otherwise?
Does he seem to be in any pain when pooping?

Just put it next to his brothers and this is the difference (his brother doesn't do small poos so you can tell how big it is!)

@peacelovesandie I wasn't in the room while he did this poo so didn't see whether he was squealing in pain and that was the only one he had done since being hoovered out about half an hour ago. All others earlier were his normal size (which are usually big for a piggy poo but never that size!) I've seen him poo today and not shown any pain but I will keep an eye on him

I wouldn't be too concerned because it looks healthy in every other respect, but just keep a look out for any more, or any other changes.

If they were ALL turning out like this, I would suspect something going on with the sphincter.

All of his poos are noticeably bigger than his brothers (they have been big since he became an adult) but as I said, they're not that big. Could there still be issues with his sphincter? I've never heard anything about this before so I have no knowledge whatsoever about the possible problems

Honestly, it doesn't look too worrying at all. It's a beautiful poo, just one that's on the long side! :)

The sphincter is what 'pinches' off the poops into pellets, so if they were all coming out as one looooooong poop, then that would suggest that the sphincter isn't doing it's job properly.

It may just have been a brief surge in digestive activity, and some poop passed through at a faster rate.

Please don't feel panicked. Just keep an eye on him while he's pooping to make sure he's not displaying signs of being in pain, or other unusual behaviour or strange poops.

And some piggies naturally have bigger poops than others. It varies with age, sex, how much they eat/drink, metabolism, etc etc.

I think my Tim has occasionally done poos of this size but as they were mixed in with normal sized ones I wasn't worried.

Boars can occasionally produce an extra large sausage, but they usually come with normal sized ones. As long as it is otherwise healthy looking, you need not worry. The ones that you should go on alert are the shapeless large poos.

One of my boars almost always does one long frankfurter, rather the pair of poos that most boys produce at once. They are well formed and firm, so he has a healthy gut. I agree with Weibke not to worry.

My boar suffers from a bit of impaction, so I think his muscles aren't as strong as they could be so he doesn't divide his poo like other piggies. I've only had him since he's been a middle aged boar, so don't know whether this occurred when he was younger.
