Hello I just found this massive lump today as I was giving Buttercup a belly bath!
He is 6 years old (almost) I contacted Vet asap and they should get back to me today.
It’s huge poor little guy! I’m so upset 😭 is surgery in this area operable? There is no other choice. I can’t lose him I love him too much. Any advice? Thank you Angela and Buttercup

Hi

Please have Buttercup seen by a vet for a mammary tumor as soon as possible (I know that this is not easy in your country); both genders get them.

Mammary tumors need removing as they otherwise just keep on growing until a piggy can no longer stand on all four legs and then grow even more.
If you are dealing with a blood-filled tumor (which yours could be if it has come up very large so very suddenly), it will go septic if left. I am very sorry for the bad news you certainly hoping not to get. :(

Here is a bit more helpful information and practical care tips:
Guinea Lynx :: Mammary Tumor
Emergency and Crisis Care as well as Bridging Care until a Vet Appointment
Tips For Post-operative Care

Please take heart they can be removed successfully. My Bill had a mammary tumour removed at 4.5 years old, he sailed through the op and remained well with no more problems 🤞

Thank you he is going tomorrow. They said it looks inoperable because of location. Also there is a strong odour coming from it which is what prompted me to take a look at his belly. I’m obviously very sad and heartbroken
Just giving love and his favourite treats

BIG HUGS

Fingers crossed that the vet offers some solutions when they see him. Though he's an older boy, there are certainly pigs who have had mammary tumors removed and have done well. If it's smells like infection, there's also the possibility that it could be an abscess or infection rather than a deeper, solid mass. Hoping the vet can give some guidance and help.

Sending you and your little piggie all the luck 🤞I truly hope they can remove whatever it is and makes a full recovery

Thank you 🙏 i was thinking if they say they can’t operate should I go somewhere else? I found videos of large mammary tumours being surgically removed fine. And bigger than this. I can’t take a no I just can’t. His regular Vet is on leave so I’m worried

See what they say and definitely get a second opinion if you feel you need to. Good luck.
