This morning I had Marvin out, at first he was just nibbling my finger... the next second he sank his teeth in. I wasn't near food, so I think he was well aware it was my finger... Anybody elses guinea pigs bit them? Marvin is 11 weeks old! 8...

My girl Wilma bites me, and bites hard if I hold her in a way that she does not like.

My other girl Pebbles, licks my fingers and when she finds the nails she like to bite too..

Otherwise they dont really bite me.

My 6 week old boar Bradley has started to nibble my fingers but he hasn't bitten properly yet.

Marvin most probably didnt know he was biting you as piggys hardly ever bite. They have very good sense of smell and you may have had some scent from veg he liked. I'm sure he wont do it again! Just be careful as they love to lick the salt from your skin and sometimes they can nip when they are excited. My Gizmo sometimes tries to nip me when he is having his nails cut as he hates it. I'm sure he didnt mean to bite you.
:)

I agree that he probably didn't mean to bite to hurt you and some piggys are always nibblers. Sally did it to me twice when she was very young but never again and I was carrying her to a seperate run they had at the time. I presumed she just wasn't comfortable yet with being carried.

As its a one off so far I wouldn't be too alarmed but if it keeps happening consider what you were doing at the time - were you stroking his coat against the direction of growth, touching a particular part of him - some piggys have spots they just don't like being touched on, is his skin dry or sore looking, check for mites or fungal etc, had he been wheeking a lot in alarm before it happened? Some piggys will learn to nip to be put down for example if they need to pee and he maybe just didn't realise his own strength.

My 2 bite quite a lot at the moment. I've put a lot of it down to them being scared and babies, they're only 15 weeks old. But this morning Lily bit me really hard, in fact it was bleeding! and it really, really hurt! At the time I was grooming her and it was near her rear end so maybe that was the reason? Not sure what to do about it really, I try not to react or put them straight down afterwards, anyone got any advice?

None of my girls have ever been biters, just the boys. I sustained a bitten hand and leg after trying to seperate my boys from fighting. I still have the scars on my hand. When Mimsi bit me, he didnt let go for ages. In his defence, I think he thought he was biting Montgomery! Montgomery then bit my leg. Montgomery also bit me once when I was giving him a cuddle and his foot got caught in my cardigan. He panicked and when I tried to free him he bit my finger very very hard.

Marvin drew blood! In fair it wasn't as if he jumped round to do it or made any nose he had a wee nibble which didn't hurt so I didn't do anything.. then again and then sank his teeth in... I just think he didn't realise what he was doing, I think all we can do is perserve! 8...

Maybe the first 2 nibbles were my warning and I missed the boat :D lol
