Evening all,

I've noticed a mark on Audrey's nose as you can see in the attached picture — we noticed a little scratch there a few weeks ago and it seemed to heal but now it's come back a little worse, does anyone have an idea what it could be and if it's a cause for concern?

Thanks in advance!

It’s difficult to tell from the photo. I would say there’s no harm in getting it looked at by the vet.

Hi!

As it stands, it looks like something stuck to the hairs at the tip may come off but it could also be the very start of a fungal infection (ringworm). Please keep an eye on it in the coming days and see a vet if the patch gets bigger quickly and forms a white scaly crust (do NOT touch).

Please accept that we cannot (nor are we qualified to) diagnose from a picture. We can tell you when and how urgently to see a vet and can support you during recovery but we cannot replace any necessary vet trip.

Here is more information on the most common problems that come with new guinea pigs: New guinea pigs: Sexing, vet checks&customer rights, URI, ringworm and parasites
