Marble Tile?

I'm picking up a marble tile for my chinchilla tomorrow, as he is suffering in the heat now It's awful to see. Thankfully, the animal room is pretty cool, but I don't want my piggies to overheat as well. I can't seem to get hold of any of the Scratch & Newton Ice Pods, and I'm reluctant to wait 3-5 days for them to be delivered from Amazon/direct from S&N. Would I be ok to get some extra tiles & use them for the pigs too? x

Yes, it is OK! You can find ceramic tiles recommended in our heat management tips (see link provided in our hot topics bar).

I didn't even buy my tiles i just popped into a local shop and they showed me to a big bin full of odd tiles and said take as many as you wish, so i picked up two, however my piggies haven't touched them since i put them in the cage, but i guess it's the thought that counts!

I have slate tiles for a dual purpose. The bottom of the hutch has half tiles laid down for coolness in the heat and to help keep claws down. They are moveable so easy to clean and my piggies like panning out on them when its warm.

Does the slate tile work at keeping their nails short ?

It's only something i've started doing the past few weeks so I don't know on that aspect yet, hopefully it will aid in helping to keep them down. I do know that they are enjoying the coolness of the tile on warmer days though
