I came home and noticed my pregnant piggy finally had 3 babies but all of a sudden, the 2 boars I have have become very animated; making lots of rumblestrutting noises (well one mainly though the quiet one is now annoying his female cage mate and she is confronting him and whacking him on the head after being chased around lol), biting the cage wires like mad like they are trying desperately to get out and also chattering their teeth all the time if I come near and talk to them.

This is not normal behaviour for them especially since one of them is normally very friendly and the other is quite quiet.

I am wondering if they are aware that the female just gave birth so they are aware she is fertile again almost immediately and their only instinct and aim is to knock her up again lol

I am thinking it is just temporary but can anyone give me any suggestions why they think this has happened or if it's common with boars?

Sows come into season within hours of giving birth; they are built as breeding machines in order to make up for the long pregnancies and low number of pups.

Your boys are reacting to those female pheromones. Please keep them out of sight and ideally some distance apart from your mum, who from now on will come into season about every two weeks.

Ah, I had thought it had something to do with all that. Today they are calmer and not chattering like yesterday. It really was like they were possessed..the naughtiest day ever for the two piggies lol
