Hi, I am new to the forum but have been very encouraged and learned so much from all the posts. We have only just (in the last 12 months) started keeping guinea pigs but my husband and I are now adicted!
We have a lone male whose parner died recently. We have just had him neutered and have adopted 3 gorgeous females from the RSPCA to keep him company. How long should we leave it before we introduce him to his girls and should we do it for short periods at a time at first or can he go straight in?

I left it 4 weeks between getting my boys neautered and introducing them to my girls. I set up my indoor run and put in loads of veggies and hay and just put them all in together. they all got on really great, Some teeth chattering but really great. Now I only have one boy and he loves having 5 girls to himself. Good luck. x

I have left it 4 - 6 weeks and as Sarsmccabe said above, introduce them gently. Preferably in neutral territory, i.e. a spare hutch that has no smells in it so that a piggie can claim it as their own.

I am sure your boar will love being with three ladies ... but I reckon who I know will be the boss, and it won't be the boar! ;D ;D

By the way what is your boar called? And also your rescue females?

Lenny get to hump all the girls apart from Millie, she has now got kicking him with her back leg down to a fine art. Its so funny to watch. Once he stops annoying her they happily cuddle and sleep beside each other. xx

Sows know how to sort the boars out, don't they? It is either a swift crafty kick or a little "puddle" in the boar's face. Naughty but does the trick! ;D

i laugh how lenny will chase the girls and its like they finally just give in and let him have his fun and once he's done he leaves them along for the rest of the night. Its so so funny. Ohh i just love piggies. xx

Hi, the boar is Fred and our new girls are: Dandelion who is into everything and very curious, Sunflower who is the shy one and Poppy who seems to be the boss. They are very pretty tri coloured. They are quite young and not yet fully grown, or at least they are smaller that Fred. We put their runs close (but not too close) together at the eekend and since than Fred has been trying to munch on his hutch and being quite destructive - is that normal?

he wants into the girls. If they all get on well, which i think they will, they can all live together if you have a big enough cage for them. I plan to do this as soon as i move house as they all hate going into there seperate cages after a long play. x

we've just bought a new hutch that will be big enough for all 4. Fred is just going to have to be patient! Can't wait to see him with company again. He has been really quiet and subdued and he used to be really playful with his late partner. I think he will soon get used to being bossed about by the girls.

Yes, I reckon he will love it ... being bossed about and put in his place! ;D ;D ;D

My neutered boars do! ;D
