Hi, can anyone take a look at these photos to give me their opinion on if these piggies are boys or girls?
I had initially thought girls ( more so because the boys were very obvious to me) but I’m doubting myself now!
Thank you 🙂

Hi and welcome

Could you please gently pry apart the slit and take a picture of the inside? Because we cannot do the usual hands-on testing, we want to see at least three clear gender markers to be fully sure; guessing games won't help you. The areas that are much more gender divisive are unfortunately the less obvious ones.

Please take a look at the reference pictures in our sexing guide and try for yourself. Here is the link: Illustrated Sexing Guide

Also try to feel for the presence/absence of a tiny penis shaft under the skin just above the knob (see first picture in the guide) - it is either there or not but if it is there it is very distinct; this is a secondary way. We do encourage our members to learn where exactly to look and what to look/feel for because we want to empower as many owners as possible so they have never again to rely on people who should know but sadly are getting wrong all too often.

We do provide a second opinion service. I have a good idea about the gender but I want to be absolutely sure beforehand. Guessing games have no place in the sexing process.

Will take some more pics later - I’ve looked at the guides and they were very helpful and I definitely identified the males.

See in these pics I don’t think I can see a circular penis ridge but not 100% sure.

I’ll come back with more pics, thank you

My feeling are sows as well but a peek inside the slits will bring the ultimate clarity and confirmation.

But getting that 100% surety and being able to see for yourself why is worth the extra hassle. The more different features you can pick up on, the smaller the risk of mis-sexing. Guinea pig genitalia have a much wider natural variance than textbook pictures suggest. :tu:
