Hi, I'm new here and I just got a Guinea pig last month, he is 4 months old and I weighed him today, he is 1088g I don't know if this is a good weight but he is 27cm long if that helps.
One kilo is a reasonable weight for adult guinea pig, so I would say that it is rather overweight for a four month old. Are you sure of his age, and of the accuracy of your weighing or scales?
Btw, do you have only the one piggie?

Are you in the US and have been sold a cuy piggy? Unfortunately, cuys (a breed that has been outcrossed with wild piggy species to generate a larger, meatier guinea pig species for consumption in South America) have made it somehow into the pet shop supply breeders stock and have been causing problems over the last decade; especially in California but also in other parts. Unless cuys are handled regularly right from birth, they are generally extremely skittish. As you can see from the Los Angeles Guinea Pig Rescue information, there are still doing so: Cuy Page
Some normal piggies can grow into true giants, too. They are however fairly rare.
PS: Please be aware that guinea pigs are group animals that should not be kept on their own. Companionship
Crikey he’s a big boy . It’s best to weigh once a week and you should see a steady weight gain over a year or so. To recognise wether he is over weight you look at the heft, that is when you stroke down his back/sides you should be able to feel the rib cage but it shouldn’t be sticking out (which would mean underweight). There’s lots of info on this forum about it. Welcome to the forum
