Male Guinea Pig Making A Weird Squeaking Noise

Hello, I have noticed my male guinea pig Jeff is making a noise I haven’t heard before. He seems to be making it all the time, when he is moving, eating but he doesn’t make it as regular when I have him out to play. I was just wondering if this is a normal sound or whether I should take him to the vets. (The noise sounds like a deep guinea pig squeak. Sometimes he does it loudly and sometimes he doesn’t it quitely. It also kind of sounds like what a pig sound is.

Maybe he’s got something stuck in his throat? One of my pigs was making a weird noise constantly all day similar to the one you describe but then he made a cough/sneeze and it went away! If it carries on then perhaps it would be a good idea to take him to the vets.

Okay thankyou, I will keep an eye and see if he coughs. If not I’ll take him to the vets

You’ll not be able to get a good look down his throat yourself so please take him to the Vet. It will reassure you too that he doesn’t have an upper respiratory problem!

Recently after the first reply Jeff did a cough and I haven’t heard him do it since so I think it was something in his throat but I think I will still make him an appointment just to be sure

Did you ever find out why he was doing that? My guinea pig does the same thing. She makes a rumbling noise and eventually coughs and stops the rumbling too
