iT is absolutely freezing tonight already. I have been outside making my piggies bed area hopefully even warmer for them.

I have placed a large cardboard box almost the size of the bed area, filled it with hay, place a fleece bed with heat pad and their snuggle pouch and then placed a towel around the box to prevent any other draughts coming in.

Their hutch is covered with a blanket and sleeping bag.

This is their first winter and my first as a piggy owner. I really hope they are warm enough and feel cosy? iT's hard to tell when you open the door how warm it is and it was dark when I went out so I couldn't see them only heard them.

So long as the hutch is placed in a sheltered area and is well insulated, they should be fine. This is my third winter with outdoor pigs and I constantly worry but they have lots of hay, fleecy things, snugglesafes, hammocks, insulation around their hutch and a thick fleece blanket that covers the hutch front at night underneath the hutch hugger. I go out to them last thing at night with freshly warmed snugglesafes and cosies.

I have a wind up torch that I use when I go out to them. We also keep the kitchen light on so that they have some light outside until bedtime.

They should be dandy, it's my first winter with outdoor piggies, although they are living in a shed which is insulated so that'll keep the nip off them, I've put a card board box in their sleeping area too, I have two one slotted ontop of the other so it makes a confined box and ive added a doorway too and lots of little airway slots, with plenty of hay...currently I'm going through one large bail of hay a week! But long as the little one's are warm thats all that matters when i check on them in the morning they are soo warm like mini radiators :) I'd also suggest a torch for the evenings I have a piggie one tehee!

Just on light... we have these in our hutch. They light up really bright, so you can see easily when feeding and checking on them
