I'm toying with the idea of attempting to make a cage liner.
I'm useless at sewing :lose:
Would iron on hemming Web fix the layers together securely? Also, is it better to use a mattress topper or incontinence pads in between?
It would be easier to buy one...which I'll probably do after a few tantrums and stressy moments! I just want to make something useful for the pigs. Any advice welcome!

Hahah that me me giggle.... I toyed with the idea... then decided without a machine it prob wouldn't work as well intially they can be expensive but well worth the comfort and money you save in the long run...and the sewing rage.

I have made lots, now I make snuggles, lap pads and anything my guinea babies need or my son thinks they need.

My idea was to make something easy (I have tantrums like a 3 year old if I try to sew a button!). With this in mind I was going to get a sewing machine....until the thought of threading it gave me a mild panic attack haha! I decided it's not worth the tears and it's the thought that counts. They don't care either way, they'll poop and pee on anything.

Snuggle sacks are easy with a machine if you do get brave enough. Maybe you could use someone elses to test your skills before you splash out x

My mum has a sewing machine that I could pinch...completely supervised in case I lash out at it! Really weird because I usually have bags of patience. Something about sewing just brings out my naughty child side. Maybe because it's so fiddly, but probably because my OH can do it and make it look easy. That's enough of an excuse to get the hump, right?

I cant sew to save my life but I bought a machine as I have a ton of pigs and couldnt afford to buy enough snuggle sacks etc.. for them all. I really enjoy making snuggle sacks and soaker pads as it is straight sewing and even managed a cuddle cup and ramp cover. I'm nearly 32 and havent used one previous ly since I was about 13 at school and I was bad back then!

That's awesome! Yeah sacks and whatnots get expensive! I'm going to attempt a liner with old fleece, webbing and a non crackly waterproof mattress cover. No sewing involved! Fingers crossed and waiting for webbing. If it all goes to pot, just a waste of old hairy fleece! :)

I made two cage liners last year with hemming-web, a mattress protector and fleece and they are going strong :D i got the idea off a youtube video, if you look up "cageliners without sewing" you will find the video, very clear and instructive if you need a help in hand like i did... :)
good luck and cant wait to see pics :D

Hemmingweb is brilliant :P

Thanks very much! :D:D

No problem. The video was a life saver for me :D

Yes, and another tip..mind your hand on the wet towel...it gets very hot with the iron being held on it, so keep a bowl of water for you to dunk it in and ring it out in so it cools down and stays damp. :)
