Hi I have 4 piggies In a 5 by 2 C and C with a large hay loft. At the weekend I took 3 babies who had been rescued a month ago and been in foster care. The babies seem really keen to be with the bigger ones (all girls) so going to try to bond them today. The new ones are in a smaller C and C with a smaller hay loft.
if they bond successfully I will need a bigger cage. I don’t have room to join the two cages together side by side. I have looked at p here and on C and C web site where people stack them but I have huge trouble getting the grids to stay together and can't imagine getting them to stack and stay firm.
Does anyone have experience of making a larger cage with layers and how did you do it?

Stacking (and the pictures you see on the website) is usually for individual, completely separate cages. You can add a loft into each individual stacked cages, but the two cages don’t get joined together via a ramp.

A 5x2 is only big enough for three piggies. If you are going to attempt to bond 7 piggies and then live together, then the single level floor space needs to be much bigger than a 5x2. Piggies need their space to be big enough in a single level. Upper levels don’t count towards the cage size as they are ground roaming creatures ao by adding on more levels you aren’t giving them more room at all. For 7 piggies to live together you need a 9x2 or equivalent amount of grids arranged into a different shape, you can add an upper level but it won’t count towards the floor space
Cage Size Guide

If I make a shape to fit the space we have using the grids, how do I make the flooring? The cores only comes in set rectangles, right?

You can do it by getting extra pieces of correx and cutting it to size to fit the new shape, or just using some plastic sheeting down on the floor to protect it
