Hi guys! My piggie has just been making a noise that sounds more like a bird chirping than a guinea pig sound! Is this normal? He was running around and eating- being his usual self. Was very strange, like a high pitch short squeak? By the way that’s the only way I can describe it haha!

Thanks!

Piggies that chirp do exist but it is extremely rare, so you are very lucky to have one!
Because it is so rare I don't think anyone really knows what it means, but I have seen clips on You Tube and it does sound amazing.
What a very special piggy you have.

Ooh lovely! Let’s hope it’s a good sound! Thanks! :)

Piggies can and do make a chirp noise, apparently for reasons unknown. I've had a couple that would chirp sporadically for no reason that I could ever figure out, though other pigs tend to sit up and take notice so it definitely serves a purpose for them!

Generally when chirpin piggies stay still like statues while they're doing it, and then go back to business as usual. It's very odd and a lovely sound! One of my pigs is a fairly regular chirper and two other piggies have done it once or twice but not very often. It's always a lovely surprise!

I think I linked a video of Cissy doing it on a thread on here but I don't remember what it's called :))
