well i do have a lovely outdoor hutch for my girls but i'm making sort of an indoor 2X4 area too. basically i want them indoors, my parents don't, but this can just be their 'play area for wet days'. heheheh.
anyway i can't find corflute anywhere! i live in new zealand and there aren't many sign stores. so i'm thinking of using those alphabet interlocking floor mats. they won't be able to chew it because it will be covered with towels, newspaper and then fleece!
i am getting black grids some time this week. but when i emailed one of the only suppliers (and my only local supplier) she said the price ranges between $39-90 just for 16 grids to make four boxes which is a bit over priced. i can make my 2X4 out of just one thank goodness. but i'm kinda insure how it will all work out with the floor mats!
also i don't want the poops to go flying out so i'm trying to think of something to go round the outsides that will protect. i was either going to use the smaller foam pads (which could be dangerous!) but i also saw you can get vinyl table clothes (also could be dangerous!) and i wondered if i could cut strips and have them round the outside. but i want something SAFER that will act as a side. and something colourful. my piggies aren't really chewers but I'm reluctant to take my chances.
i'm really excited about getting cubes.....just bummed at the price! it will be at least 80 bucks for 32 grids!but if i do get two packs (so 32 grids) so if i'm making a 2X4 (12 grids) anyone got any ideas what i can do with the rest of the grids? that is 20 more grids to play around with! i don't really have much room to expand further either. so its probably best just to get one pack but i was thinking about a stand! how many grids do you need for a sturdy 2X4 cage size stand. i don't really need storage space. but say if i used 12 altogether on the stand what would i do with the remaining 8? add a top level? how many do you need for a 2X1 top level? 8 would be just enough? or should i just use 10 for the stand and then the last two grids can be made into a ramp? any other ramp options?
so theres a few questions i need answering! thanks for any ideas. and just so you know the floor mats i'm using aren't the sort of foam that absorbs the moisture it's the type that repells it, kinda like waterproof? and i'll be using that as the very base.
