Hi

I'm looking at making a C&C cage. The dimensions will be L-shaped, 2x5 plus 2x3. I have a few questions:

1. How many cubes will I need to make this cage?

2. Are these cubes the correct type and good enough for a cage?

3. I want to use fleece liners. Are these good to use? Will I need any other bedding? I will be using Hammocky Hammock liners:

4. I don't want to use correx as I worry the piggies will chew it (they have a liking for plastic) so would it be ok to use shower curtains underneath the fleece liners as long as its well hidden?

5. From the dimensions, how much free range time will they need? The cage will be for 2 boars.

6. I'll need to make a roof as I also own a cat. Should I make it out of C&C cubes or should I use another material?

cubes come in all shapes and sizes i went for the pet den on amozan lovely company came with the clips to put them together and cable ties and you buy corex plastic from your local copy right dealer and a pine broom pole also from amazon hope you have an amazing time it is another experience in itself best regards Astrid
Heres my one (i know have a different one)

Based on how i think you ware joining it, i make it 20cubes you would need for the 1 grid high main cage. You need to be aware if you are having any toys, tunnels, log bridges in they can stand on that you will need to make the sides an extra grid higher. The cubes from wayfair are good, I have them myself.
Not sure about the fleece liners in most cases they are a complete bedding so you don't need anything underneath i.e. if it has a absorbent layer but you need to check the website.
I know people do use shower curtains as a base, but i would worry that any wee would seep off onto your floor if they wee near the edges. I use correx and mine have been very good not chewing it, apart from when they have free range time and want to go back.
That is a huge cage for two boars given that it is all on one level. I would personally get them out maybe a few times a week for free range time as it gives them a change of scenary.
I am not sure about the roof as mine doesn't have one although i'm not sure how easy a lid made of grids would be to get into. I find if i need to remove a grid for cleaning, they can be pretty stiff to get apart.

I make it 16 grids for the main frame and then somewhere between 12 and 17 for the lid depending how you're building it. I've seen quite a few lids built with grids and have built one myself for a friend. You can use cable ties on one side as the hinge and bull frog clips (not sure that's what they're actually called :/) on the other side for easy opening.

Personally I'd always use correx as I juat wouldn't trust a shower curtain and am a little ocd so would get fed up of it ruffling and bunching up! If you were to attach fleece along the edges that would stop them chewing it.

Good luck

I used these attached to correx then cable tie it all round top. You get them from b&q etc I metre long sections
