Hello
Recently Chocco and Marvin fell out of love with each other. I tried putting them back together after a few days but it seems that they will need to be neighbours rarther then cage mates for the forseeable future. With this in mind I have got the materials for a C&C cage however due to space I'm havingto make them each 2x2 with an upper level hay loft 2x1.

Was just wondering if anyone had any experiencs of making ramps and what the best materials/gradient is for piggies.

We have used the mesh style grids bent into a curve so they have sides and the guineas can't fall off. It's lined with vetbed so they can't get their paws caught. Gradient wise it would stretch all the way to the other end of a 2 x 2. Ours use the ramps just fine at that angle.

Thanks :) we were thinking of making it with corex or wood but grids sounds safer...if we have enough left over :D
Think we will either have to do a switch back ramp or have one that goes accross the middle of the cadge so it fits a 2x2 gradient.
Correcx arrives today and grids either sat or monday...sooo excited :D

draw out some plans and post them up - i would be interested to see as i may end up making 1 cage with 2 sections to house all my piggies
so the cage ineed to be functional and attractive

unfortunatly i dont have a scanner, tho even if i did my drawings look very strange .... perspective isnt my greatest talent. I will try and describe it tho and hopefully post a finished pic next week when its complete.

Both cages will sit on the piggie table next to each other due to space they will only be 2x2 on the bottom level. I'm then planning on haveing a hay loft 2x1 at the back of both cages.

The ramp will then go horizontaly from where the cages meet to the upper level so that the piggies are less likely to jump over and start fighting with each other and that the gradient isnt as steep.

Does that make any sense.......?

Ooo also making the cage chew proof as chocco and marvin both like to eat Correx >< found a great vidio and going to use edge caps arround the edges to prevent eating :P

yeah i think i can picure it and i may have an idea for the ramp

come out of the hayloft toward the front at the side of the cage to a platform half way down then turn at right angle to decent the remaining distance so the slope can be shallower and the ramp is to the side of the cage

i am now picturing the same at both sides giving a "Gone with the Wind" - "Tara" style hallway type thing

add in some pillars to make it nice and grand

Hehe yeah will look like a grand staircase...either that or a compleat mess :P cant wait for the grids to arrive so i can build getting very excited and already collered my mum into sewing fleace pads for the bottom level, w00t!

At the moment I'm using fiddle sticks as ramps...the only problem is that the can bend obviously... or, as people have said, you can use the grids with something on them so their claws dont get caught. I didnt bend them though and they were fine :) Theyre not clumsy enough to fall off them..well yours might be...but mine were fine:p

this is my ramp:
