I've made a few changes from yesterday. Their little feet kept sliding on the Lino so I've removed part of it in the room they are in so they are walking on basically a concrete floor. They are zooming about everywhere, I didn't realise they could move so fast! I know it doesn't look pretty but they are enjoying themselves. Do you think this is ok for their indoors environment? Outdoor run should arrive early next week. In the height of summer there's no way they can stay where they are during the day, it'll get far too warm. Which is a shame because they are loving it.

Sorry for all the questions, I feel I need to get reassurance that I'm doing the right things for them. I don't know anybody with Guinea pig experience.

They can't stay inside because it will get too warm or too warm outside? I know the uk is different as far as not having air conditioning so I'm a little confused being I the US. My piggies are strictly indoors, if that is temporary it looks great. What do you have under the carpet for absorbency? Some ppl use mattress pads. They have enough space to run and lots to do. You saw the resources on cage sizing and c&c cages, they're really helpful as far as cage dimensions

You are a true piggy slave ! Your set up is amazing !

Just to let you know , my piggies are in a shed which I knew would get too hot in the summer - so I bought a hutch . When we had the heatwave, outdoors was just as hot as the shed and I found the coolest place to keep them was indoors - with the blinds drawn down and windows closed .

Also, I'm not sure if you'll want them on a concrete floor indoors for a long time as you may start to get wee smells when their wee soaks into the concrete !

It's a conservatory type room with glass roof so it gets really warm in the sun, there's a nice shaded bit in the garden for sunny days. It is temporary but we've got renovations going on in the main part of the house which will take a few months. Once that's completed I'll make a c&c cage and have them in the main part of the house all year round.

Thanks for advice about the mattress pads, I'll get shopping for some. It's a concrete floor, no carpet but I know if they pee on it it will be hard to keep clean. At the moment they've kindly being peeing in the boxes but I'm not sure that it'll last now they are running about more!

I posted a reply to you and forgot to hit reply in your comment. Sorry, I'm still getting used to using the forum:)

I use cloth diapers under my fleece, the little squares make it easy to arrange and double however I need. Sounds like you have a great start and awesome plan for your cages.

As you know it's really warm about here today & ive managed to keep them cool but any warmer and it would be unsafe. My run should be here by Monday, hopefully Saturday. Eventually I'd love them in the living room with us but I can't do it at the moment. They look really happy where they are, it's great watching them investigate. I'll need to get something sorted out to soak any pee up. So far they've been peeing in their boxes, which is brilliant:)

That sounds like a great idea! I'm out shopping tomorrow so I'll get some & let you know how I get on with them.
