Mad about guinea pigs uk?

Lots of pages have been removed by Facebook, including guinea pig rescues. No one is sure yet why.

My Facebook account has been suspended, loads of larger guinea pig groups on Facebook have been kicked out of existence and all the admins personal accounts suspended, for "fraud and deception"
I dont care if the group doesn't come back, but to lose all my photos, friends who have passed away, memories for the last 15+ years on my personal account is sad, especially when ive actually done nothing wrong! Its the only way I have of contacting a lot of my friends and Facebook being what it is, is being absolutely zero help in figuring out WTF is going on and how to resolve it.

I hope Facebook has not been charging for these accounts ☹️ suddenly suspending accounts for no reason whatsoever must cost the charity, plus potential reputation harm if they are being slapped with "fraud and deception". Facebook is too big to care, grim!
 
I think it’s groups that have been suddenly removed. Pages seem to be unaffected. I’ve heard of several groups being removed.

They have also gone after some business pages too as it was posted that the crazy guinea pig lady UK had lost their page.

I thought her page was still up and running but her group has been removed. It’s a mystery as to what’s going on with FB but it makes it a very anxious time for rescues etc who do have pages and groups.
 
From what we can gather, we have all been receiving notifications for violations that either lead nowhere or to a page saying everything was fine. If a group admin "clears" violations too many times when they go against the community guidelines, facebook takes action against the group and the admins accounts. It seems these notifications were a bug, and we've all been punished for ignoring ghost notifications/violations that didnt exist, or did but werent actually shown to us.

It seems to have happened in a few different hobby sectors now.

It seems we're going to just have to wait for our appeals to be reviewed, or until Facebook realises there's been an unintended issue and reverses whatever it is they rolled out.
 
So just to update, myself and the rest of the of the admin team of our old group have now lost our accounts and been completely banned. I expect the vast majority of other admin who lost their groups were also permanently banned from Facebook. We still don't have any answers other than we somehow committed "fraud and deception" but when reading Facebooks community standards, we haven't done anything that breaches them. We were told to take them to court if we didn't like it.

From what I'm told there are not many groups larger than 1-10,000 members left, it seemed to be all the larger ones were removed, then the medium sized ones.

So if anyone admins a small group, it may be wise to step down, archive the group for a bit or at least cross your fingers, as this seems more like an actual roll out of something, on purpose, rather than a glitch or accident now. But we still don't know and probably never will.

I have taken the very uncomfortable decision to step down as admin on our rescue page and groups. Unfortunately my business relies heavily on FB for marketing and to lose the ability to advertise on FB and insta would be crippling. But I need to protect my business until all this gets sorted. It makes no real sense.

I'm so sorry you've had to do that 😔 hopefully facebook will at least announce what they're actually doing, so people can work with them without risking their accounts.

I never would have thought wanting to offer advice would have ever gone against their rules! I just wish we had some answers so we could reassure people who are left!
 
It may well be, if anyone wants to do it, personally I don't fancy being interviewed..but some might. A couple of us did discuss reaching out to Watchdog or whatever its called these days but I have enough anxiety day to day 😅 Some of my admin team have reached out to lawyers though, so we will see where that goes.

I have looked into small claims court, I'm currently trying to decide whether I want to deal with the stress. Looking online some people have recieved a few thousand in compensation and their accounts restored as a courtesy. But the process isn't cheap either.
 
It's so bad what Facebook is doing. Guinea pigs are vulnerable little animals and at so much risk of abuse and neglect through a lack of knowledge. They are high needs pets and anyone trying to make their lives and their carers' lives better and easier should be treated with respect.
