I have no idea what this is, she's around 5yrs old and I'm wondering what it is. I don't know how to attach an image to show you either.

It's crusty? The nipple is hard and I don't know what to do

Please do have your piggy seen by a vet for a hands on check and diagnosis.

I hope she is ok

Please have your piggy checked by a vet as a lump could be a number of things. I hope she’s ok

To add a photo, go to the attach files button with the paper clip in the green box in the left hand corner of the screen and you should be able to add a photo from there

I’m afraid I don’t know what that could be. Is it a lump or is it a crusty nipple? Crusty nipples can point to ovarian cysts. Or it could be a cyst or abscess under the nipple if it’s a lump but I’m afraid only a vet can diagnose and treat

:agr:

In this case a hands on examination is necessary for a proper diagnosis an treatment so please have your piggy seen by a vet.

How is their weight - stable?

It is yeah, she's always been on the small side (600-700g) but fattened up last month? She went from750g to 860g. I have her most recent weight written as 880 as of 2 weeks ago.

Did the vets say why she has nipple discharge as nipple discharge isn’t normal and usually points to an underlying issue although I could be wrong but in 13 years of owning piggies, none of them have ever had nipple discharge

Ohh.. what..? Is it not?! They put it down to a hormonal changes.. that's worrying actually.

Is your vet experienced in seeing guinea pigs? Nipple discharge should be investigated further to identify the underlying cause - same as for humans - it is not normal.

It currently looks like this.. almost like a pocket of something. I really am unhappy with them I told them I could still see a lump after they scratched the discharge off.

I hope your piggie is OK. If your vet isn't too experienced with guinea pigs have a look at our Recommended Guinea Pig Vets for forum recommended piggie vets. These vets have been recommended by members who have had a good experience with their vets looking after their piggies.

I investigated the lump and some of the discharge out of it was soft but stuck together? It's like fondant icing on cakes - it's got structure but it's really soft? That's one way of describing it.

i agree with the others,This is not normal.maybe you could get a second opinion.i hope you get to the bottom of this.

thank you, its just so odd.. they're qualified and just told us it was discharge because of a hormonal response. She then waffled on about her guinea pig being on hormone injections ect...
Said it was fine and to not worry about it after scratching the discharge. It's just a little pocket of.. discharge? its rather grim.

Really hope i get to the end of this soon.
