Could you check whether it is something stuck to the mouth (in which case it could be 'boar glue', i.e. dried semen fluid and will fall off eventually), please?

If you have any concerns, please see a vet for a hands-on examination.

Thanks for the response. It doesn't appear to be something that can be knocked off, it feels a little crusty / scab like. We are going to take her to the vets but just wondered if anyone had an idea on what it could be.

It is very difficult to tell from a picture without having access to the piggy itself, I am afraid. We see quite a range of things ending up stuck around their mouth or nose.

It could be some hardened smegma mixed up with the boar glue or something out of the anal sac he has been tidying up or investigating that has now dried up - but to be honest, all I can do is guess without having access to your piggy myself.

Thanks, this is Daphne she is a female so don't think it could be that. It doesn't seem to bother her, when touched or when she is eating, and seems to have just appeared from nowhere!
