So my 1 year old piggy has had this growing lump in her eye which I didn’t take seriously until now because I didn’t notice it before. A few months ago before I discovered it , it was quite small and just didn’t look serious and I thought nothing of it but now, I can see her eye looks like she’s been crying and the lump has grown that you could almost see it coming out of her eye. She also has some discharge coming out from it which dries up and makes it look like “sleep”. She has no symptoms, It doesn’t look like it bothers her, she still eats like a monster and energy is very high. I’ll be taking her to the vet next week but anyone know what it could be and what caused it? And if anyone has a clue on what the treatment will be?

I can't see what it looks like clearly as I'm using my phone, however if it seems to be like a swelling on the inside of the membrane around the eye, then it could just be "fatty eye"/"pea eye" which is harmless. I think I read that is caused by an over-rich diet. A vet visit would be a good idea anyway to get a proper diagnosis in case it's something else

Hi and welcome!

Please have your piggy vet checked for an inflamed and prolapsed lacrimal (i.e. tear producing) gland; a similar, but more painful condition is called cherry eye in dogs.

Fatty or pea eye is usally the lower lid being pulled down towards the back end of the eye without any connective tissue pushed out.
