Hi everyone
Wondering if you could help. I had little Rolo to the vets yesterday because we found blood on his cushion, I initially thought our other boar had bitten him but when we got him to the vet there was no abrasion, so the vet thought the blood must have been in his urine. There is also a lump in his groin/lower abdomen area with a red patch on it. The vet seemed to think that this was his testicle which was either very swollen or had a tumour on it. His right testicle was in the scrotum but the left was not which is why she thinks it’s his testicle, he is fine in himself eating, pooping and his urine has since had no blood in it. We have been given antibiotics and pain relief/anti inflammatory for now. Have any of you come across this before? I’m planning on taking him to a specialist exotic pet if the antibiotics don’t start taking effect soon. I’m also new to the forum so no idea how to add a photo!

Any help is greatly appreciated,
Thank you
Emma

Hi and welcome

Please have that seen by a specialist vet as soon as you can. It looks very sore. I rather doubt whether an antibiotic alone will do the trick.

We cannot tell you what exactly you are dealing with just from a picture but it looks painful enough that he has either self-barbered or abraded it on the floor. You may want to put a thin application of flamazine cream on the sore patch.
:(

All the best!

Thank you for your reply. Took him to an exotic vet today and he suspects it’s a tumour as he’s showing no pain when he squeezes, messes with it, so he doesn’t believe it’s a hernia. He has booked him in for an op on Thursday. He said tumours in this area can be aggressive so I’m expecting the worst 😭😭

I'm so sorry to hear your news. I had no advice to give (my boars are generally sans plums when they arrive) but we'll be thinking of you. You've spotted it and taken him in as soon as you could which has given him the best chance. We'll be thinking of you Rolo x
