Hi
I rescued two girl guineas in October and they unexpectedly gave birth in December! The pups were fine and are now weaned. Both mum's have developed a hard but moveable lump directly under their back nipples which I guess is where they fed the pups from?

Is this normal? If not, it seems bizarre that both have identical?

Hi!

Please have them vet checked. This is not normal. It could be a mastitis, which will require a hands-on examination and medical treatment.

PS: Have you correctly sexed all babies and separated any boars at 3 weeks of age/250g of weight in order to prevent the next round of pregnancies? Boars start making babies with any sows within their reach (including mothers) from 3-5 weeks onwards. The earliest documented sibling pregnancy is 24 days.
