Hey everyone!
I posted about my baby Yen a few weeks back. I took her to the vets as she was squeaking when weeing, on examination my vet (cat and rabbit care clinic) found a lump on her bum.

The surgery is on the 6th so not too long away now! I have two questions that I hope someone here can help me with.

1) Her lump has become her bald, not sure if it’s from chewing. I’ve noticed she keeps getting a lot of poo/wee also stuck in her fur? Is this normal? Her poos and wees have been looking normal although she still squeaks during (I think the lump may be pushing on her bladder slightly which is causing irritation?). Should I be giving her baths or anything? Everytime I handle her she’s warm on her bum from wee legs or had a few hairs stuck together from poo. I’m scared to wash her in case I just irritate her skin more.

2) I ran out of loxicom. I live about 25 mins from the vets (and I dont drive) so it’s tricky for me to get down there. Do you think it will be okay to just get more loxicom on the day of surgery or do you think it’s necessary I get it now. I just want her to be safe and comfortable.

Any advice would mean a lot. I’m very very worried about her and I love her so much. I just want what’s best for her and I’m praying the surgery will get her back to normal.

P.S she has been drinking and eating fine as far as I can see. She hasn’t lost weight or anything and when the vet saw her he said she was still very healthy so surgery should go well.

Hi

Personally I would get some, especially if she is still showing mild signs of discomfort; these will become stronger with every passing day over the course of a whole week. If in any doubt, please contact the clinic as you haven't included the dosage and details so I for one cannot advise you on incomplete information.

If you have issues with urine scald around her genitalia/belly area, then please follow the advice re. dealing with urine scald in our mobility guide (see chapter 4): Looking After Guinea Pigs With Limited or No Mobility

Any soreness/baldness caused by the lump should disappear in due time.

Yes okay I will do all of these things. She is currently on 0.3 day and night but that dropped to just 0.3 in the night now. Thank you!
