Hello all. Sugar is a 3(?) year old absynnian sow. She has been to the vet twice in the past 3-4 months for what looks like the start of her IC journey. They may have seen "something" in her bladder, either a polyp or tumor. It sometimes shows and other times disappears.

Very glad she's already been scheduled for a follow up for the above today. I can tell she doesn't feel well. She was fluffed up, not interested in hay (!) and her cage mate was close by this morning. I went ahead and gave her .25ml Meloxicam (dog).

I'm going to place a bet that it's maybe her teeth. Now about 90 minutes later, she seems a little better. Maybe the meloxicam helped.

I will update later on! Appointment is 4:30 eastern US time.

Sugar's on the left with the nose stripe. This was much earlier this morning...laying down with her cagemate Cinnamon so close got my attention.

After this pic she had that hunched up and fluffy posture. Hope it's nothing serious. No signs of an IC flare right now either!1CE391E8-3E3A-46BC-BA6B-9079FA680287.webp

I hope sugar is ok. Great news you have a vet appointment.

Good luck today! Hopefully you get positive news.

If I have to wait more than one day here in England I’m cross. Our vets are very good thank goodness. Good luck Sugar.

Thank you all for the support today! It's the best to not feel alone when all you can do is wait.

Sugar is fine! Whatever happened earlier seems to have passed. Her vitals were all good. Maybe a little bit of bloating on one side but her gut sounds were good. I hope it doesnt return once it's been 24 hours since the meloxicam.

Otherwise, the reason for the checkup was her bladder and the vet was very happy with how it looked on ultrasound! Just a few "sparkles" from a crystal here and there in the darkness, but no sediment, and no sign of the growth/polyp they saw before. And just as she was headed back in the carrier, she peed on the table and it was nice and clear.

So back to monitoring for IC flares. Such a relief.
