I got up this morning and give everyone their morning dry food and fill up bottles and I noticed Lowri was crawling out of the box she was sleeping in not using her front feet. I checked over her and her body felt slightly lip. I went to work and when I come back 3 hours later she was still the same. She was sat next to on a towel with her Mam but if I move her it seems that she is wobbly and the front feet dont seem to move correctly, like she is drunk. I checked her body over and you could feel her front paws were slightly swollen.

I decided to take her to the vets as I was not sure 100% what was going on with her. I will admit that I am not 100% confident with any of my local vets the guy I prefer to go to is 3/4 of an hour away in the car but Nathan was not home so I walked up with her to the local clinic.

When we got to the clinic, the vet was saying hello to Kanika and wanted to steal her, she came along for the trip out and to see if my local vet had seen a skinny pig before, guess what, nope she didnt know they exhisited! After she had a cuddle of Kanika, she had a look at Lowri and was not 100% sure what it was. I suggested that she would probably need some Baytril for any infection and Metacam as anti-inflamiatory, and I she agreed with me and was given them. I told her I did a little bit of research before I came RE: Diseases of Domestic Guinea Pigs and she was very happy to know that Lowri was in my good hands.

Lowri seems to be walking a bit better now and I will update you all with her progress. Lets say I will be asking to see her again if I need the vet at time soon.

I am lucky to have a great vet who listens. I had a simlar thing happen to my boar Sunny, but it was one front leg, then the other front leg, then the back leg and so on.
I asked for an xray when I first took him with the front leg to make sure it wasnt an injury or bone disease and he was also put on baytril and metacam. After a week and with the other legs swelling up, I asked if I could up the dosage from 0.2ml x twice a day to 0.4mls. He was on this dose for 3 whole weeks and made a slow recovery. I also gave him extra vit C 50mg per day as he wasn't over keen on eating but did when I hand fed him on my lap.
I gave him loads of bio lapis too. I would be very interestd in how Lowri gets on and if it is anything similar to what Sunny had as it baffled all of us!

Lowri seems to be getting back to her usual self of running away from me, I have her Mam and brother and they are all shy. She and Laban have just turned a year old on the 30th June.
She is sat with me now and seems to be doing all the usual piggy movements I cant feel the swelling as bad as it was yesterday. I will keep up with her medication for 5 days as the vet suggested.

Thanks for the comments and suggests guys, its appricated.
