I'm going away for 2 weeks next month, my Mum and Sister will be looking after my 8 piggies. They have always been on fleece, but my Mum will struggle with how high maintenance it is, so I'm looking for an easy to manage, dust free bedding.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I would say Vet bed ! I have used it for many years , and it makes cage cleaning so easy and it is totally dust
Free and very hijenic

Before fleece I used Auboise and I thought it was great.
I have also heard good things about carefresh too but it was too expensive here in Switzerland!

I think it will also depend on the type of cages that you have.

That's also a deciding factor for me, the expense. I have a few ideas currently, which are carefresh, back 2 nature paper pellets, and tumblefresh, all of these beddings are good, but they are so expensive, especially since I have 8 girls in 2 separate C&C cages, one a 5x2 and the other a 6x2+2x2 L shape, I will need a lot of bedding to fill these cages. I may compromise with them, and do half the cage newspaper (or fleece) and the other half (their pee areas) with bedding, it will still be costly but at least not AS costly as filling the whole cage. I would just like to use bog standard woodshavings as it's cheap, but the dust content is too high which is a shame.I think I will just mix beddings, it's just a case of which ones will work best. I've seen auboise mentioned a lot, many people say it's good. These horse beddings come in huge bags and are so cheap compared to the small animal sized packs, which I think is a rip off! How much auboise do you think I'd need to fill my size cages?

I use cardboard bedding which is free of dust and gives them something to root around in. If you can find a local horse place to collect a bale from it can be very cheap. It's a bit more expensive if you want it delivered: Ecobale

I use aubiose in my two c and c cages both 6x2,it is ten pounds a bale, but use 2 bales a month for 7 cages,i use back to nature or megasorb in the litter trays, both are reasonably priced.the aubiose is very absorbant,no smells until you go to clean out,i have four adult cavies in each of my 6x2 cages.you need about 15mm layer over newspaper or puppypads to make cleaning out much easier.Finacard on line is a shredded cardboard bedding which is also extrememly good,it is £15 a bale, but delivered the next day straight to your door, would easily last 2 6x2 cages for two weeks.hope you find something you like.happy holidays.

I have used finacard and aubiouse.I think personally the aubiouse is better as it soaks down to the bottom and the top stays dry.Easy to spot clean too.
