This is a great video and so true, I have had dogs all my life ( over 50 years ) and the 2 staffies I have now are absolutly wonderful, funny, loving companions. :smitten: By the way Alison, Bev and any staffie or dog lovers this is a nice sight and Steves book is great www. laurel-the-staffie.webeden.co.uk

What a lovely video. My mum has a staffie pup, he's nearly 7 months now, and because I rely heavily on my parents for childcare as me and OH work full time, I was really dubious to start with as my youngest is just 2. You read all the horror stories in the papers and they got him around the time that the american pit bull killed that little girl. My OH was begging me to put him into nursery(my daughter is now 12 so we weren't as worried about her) just so he didn't have to come into contact with the dog, but I refused. Watching then grow up together has been amazing, Daniel and Tyson(dog) do everything together, if they're out in the garden together you know there's gonna be big holes that have been dug by them both and flowers ripped up but when you look at them both sitting there with those 'it wasn't me it was him' looks on their faces you have to forgive them. Tyson follows Dan around everywhere and although he knocks Dan over every now and again,he isn't doing it to be nasty, he just doesn't realise that jumping up at a 2 year old when excited is going to knock him over. I've got some lovely pics of them both curled up together fast asleep in front of the fire.
Why is it when other dogs attack their owners, that aren't classed as dangerous dogs ie labradors, aren't publicised as much as staffies, rotties etc?
What about that man who had a fit and his labrador, who he'd had all his life, killed him? The woman who had the first face transplant had something similair happen to her too. Nobody would think twice at classing a lab as a dangerous dog. At the end of the day, all dogs are wild animals who have been domesticated, and they still have their natural behaviour in them.
