I have two hormonal boars who have been seperated due to fighting and wounding each other. (one seems to be the aggressor though, the other more defencive) And today I was sat holding one and the other was watching from his cage. They both caught sight/smell of each other and started their usual aggressive chattering towards each other and also a loud puffing/exhaling sound. I have never heard this before and as soon as I removed one from vision they stopped!

What were they doing? They def did not seem like they liked or wanted to see each other so I can only assume it was an act of aggression

Any ideas?

I found this on the cavyspirit website (http://cavyspirit.com/sociallife.htm)

 • Wide yawn, but this is no yawn, they are showing their teeth
 • Snorting (like a strong puff or hiss)
These behaviors may sound serious and they should be monitored VERY CLOSELY, BUT do NOT separate the pigs exhibiting this behavior, yet. This is when the average pet owner loses it and pulls the pig out. Most of the time, this behavior will continue for a while until one backs down.
Hope this helps!

I had this one with 2 foster boys who briefly fell out. I rebonded successfully but one was snorting at me when I was not quick enough to feed him! I put it down to agression and being a nark!

Thanks :) it is as I suspected! gumpy little oiks :)):))

They do all of the above and the younger one lost a part of his ear so it was def time for seperation!
