My babies are 4 months old today and have tripled in size since I brought them home. So, I have been planning a larger cage for them for some time. Slowly gathering all the bits together and thinking about how to get the maximum cage into to the space that I have.

This is what they had- a Midwest habitat measuring approx 120cm by 60 cm.

This was huge when they were babies but was looking increasingly small.

Some cubes, correx and MDF later they have this,

And with added toys and guinea pigs,

It's now a sizeable 130cm by 100cm. Just a bit shy of 4 by 3 cubes. Fits snugly under my table and is on castors for easy moving. One cube in the front un clips to make a door so it can be extended further for running around time. I still need to work on the interior but I was shattered by the time I had finished the construction work!

They have already starting nibbling the correx though! I need some of those binder spines...

Looking good :)
I bet the love running around it. Sometimes they nibble new things out of curiosity so the phase MIGHT pass :)
Can I be cheeky and ask - is that a Sippy water bottle? I've just ordered one.... :)

Hi Critter, yes I think it is. I put a normal bottle in too and they tend to use that rather than the much more expensive sippy one....

I think they are a bit amazed by the space! I'm still trying to work out how on earth to catch them. The bigger the cage the harder it is.

I agree, they can really zip past your hands! I find having a little box for them to go into helps :)

Critter, they used to go into their tunnel/box/hidey to hide from being caught but they soon learnt they were easy to pick up in them! Now they go anywhere but! Adric has learnt to hide in the corner tucked behind the hay rack where he is inaccessible... Bright piggies!
