Lost teeth please advise

Hi

My guinea pig Alvin has lost both bottom incisors.

Last year he had an abscess under his jaw which was successfully treated. Then a month ago lost his left lower incisor. I took him to the vet who said it is probably due to the trauma of the abscess (and also he likes to move around the food blocks with his teeth) and said it may or may not grow back depending on the severity of trauma.
It hasn’t grown back and now the right one has gone. I am very worried. He is still his happy self and eating well and not loosing weight.

Please if you can advise and if you have any stories of toothless guinea pigs that’s would be great.

I’m afraid I have no advise but I am tagging in @furryfriends (TEAS) who runs a sanctuary for guinea pigs with special needs including dental issues

Guinea pigs manage well with missing incisors. However, you’ll need to get the top ones burred regularly, as they’ll grow too long, as they have nothing to wear against.
