Mimo passed away 2 days ago, he was 7 years and 7 months. He was quite sick so he spend his last few nights sleeping with his son Wombo in my bed. I have had MImo since he was a few weeks old, the rest of the GP family passed away about 3 years ago. They otherwise lived in seperate cages as they would fight and MImo had an annoying habit of smelling Wombo's behind which he didn't enjoy. HOwever when MImo was ever sick Wombo was the best medicine and was very patient. Their cages were next to each other and I would often let them rub noses to stay in touch. They otherwise heard each other squeak and rustle about. They went together to the vet on my lap as Mimo was too sick to go alone. In the last 5 minutes MImo hid his face in WOmbo's fat tummy. Unfortunately we tried surgery but it was too late and it was decided to not wake him up. Now that MImo is gone I am hoping Wombo will be ok by himself with lots of cuddles and attention. He is over 7 himself so a new GP might not be the best thing, also I can't replace Mimo.. Any advice?

Mimo and Wombo (looks like a wombat)

No one would think you were trying to 'replace' a much loved pet if you got another one. :)
It's okay to get more pets, when you're ready. No one will ever fill the gap of that last much loved pet, but you deserve more piggie love and there's a guinea pig out there that really deserves your love, too!

I've had great results when introducing an old boar to a young baby male. Usually, if the baby is really young enough, it will be docile and submissive enough that the old man wont feel threatened and attack.
My eldest, Lucy, died a few days ago, he was almost 7 too! And in his time he's been housed with countless baby boars and they've all got along really well.
Generally, the older the male the more mellow and friendly he'll be with the young-uns..
