Just really want some advice!
Woke up in the early hours of this morning to find my rescue piggie Bandit has suddenly died.
I’m really at a loss of what to do, I have read the best thing to do is is get another guinea pig but I’m dealing with a recent loss of a very close family member. I’m finding it all too hard, it’s happened at the worst time.
My other piggie Bear, I love so much but I don’t think I could deal with getting another piggie right now but couldn’t cope with having to give him away to a rescue. I hope this doesn’t sound harsh but I’d hate to get another pig and then something happens to Bear, so all I would be doing is repeating the cycle of getting another guinea pig.
Any kind words would really help right now!

I'm so sorry for your losses, and that you are in this situation. If you don't want to continue the cycle of piggies, some rescues offer fostering of one or more piggies while your current one is still alive (the rescue would then take back the piggy once Bear has passed away). I can't suggest any as I don't live in the UK, but you could have a look at the rescue locator and reach out to some rescues to see if they would offer fostering. I hope this helps.

Hello and welcome to the forum. I’m so sorry for your recent loss of a family member and Bandit. I think as long a Bear is acting ok and not pining too much for his friend and is eating ok you can leave it a few weeks before you need to get him a friend. That would give you a bit of time to think about getting a new friend for Bear or not. Take care.
