I have recently got 2 piggies, my first pets entirely my own! Only 2 weeks ago, have had terrible trouble as they've both already had a mild URI. Now they are behaving oddly; nipping at each other occasionally and Henry keeps following Lenny around slowly and vibrating. I have heard of rumble strutting but I don't know if Henry is doing that or not?! Saw Lenny nip at Henry today - nothing serious but I'm worried they're going off each other!

That is rumble strutting, my male does it all the time, it's basically all he does! And then after he will popcorn or zoom off :)) its a dominance thing and as long as they're not biting properly I would leave them to it. Make sure there's plenty of houses and space for them so they won't fall out because of that.

Yes that's exactly the same as Henry, he then races off and popcorns! They are inside at the moment as they were poorly, hopefully they can go back into the hutch outside soon which is much more spacious!

Change of cage can cause them to have to do the whole dominance thing again, so that may have sparked it.

The vet advised me to keep them inside because the stress of going outside may have sparked their illness - but I'm confused, won't it then be stressful to go outside?!

As they have been inside and had a uri I would keep them indoors till it's warmer out before reintroducing the hutch ad it's still getting cold at night. Sounds like Henry is just showing Lenny whose boss, mild nipping is a way of saying move off. The change of new home would have caused them to sort the hierarchy, won't be from changing them from a hutch to indoor cage as you have only had them 2 weeks. Things should calm down just keep an eye on them :)

Okay thanks :) we have decided to keep them inside for a while and have bought an indoor pen so they can have floor time. Haven't noticed so much rumbling in the past couple of days :)
