Hi,

A few weeks ago I noticed one of my boars was losing slightly more hair than usual. I didn't think too much of it but began monitoring anyway.

However, now it's become quite obvious he has two patches that are slowly getting worse. His poop/pee and behaviour has stayed exactly the same and I haven't noticed any excess grooming or fighting at all.

I've heard skin and hair problems usually stem from fungal or mite issues and can be solved with invermectin or special shampoo?

A picture of his back is attached. Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks!

Xx

Hi!

Please have your piggy seen by a vet for potential mange mites. We cannot diagnose from a picture. Fungal and skin parasites requite different treatment so by treating on spec with low dosed pet shop products you can easily do more harm than good.
The most effective and ultimately cheaper way is to see a vet and treat targeted with vet quality stuff so you get past it once and for all instead of turning it into a long running saga in which only the pet shop profit (they are not allowed to sell medication). You will always have to treat all piggies in contact with the infected one.
