Hi everyone! I need some help here. I actually only used fleece when housing my guinea pigs and I really want to try out loose bedding. The problem is I have an outside cage and I don't know how loose bedding would be in that. Anyone use loose bedding for an outside cage?

I use Snowflake shavings in my outside hutch (though it's in a shed so I don't have to worry about the wind blowing it about) - but what I do is line the hutch base with newspaper that extends a bit up the side so that the shaving bedding is contained and once I put loose hay over the top of that it seems to do a good job of stopping the piggies kicking the stuff everywhere. Might be handy to screw a strip of timber along the lower inside edge of the door so that if the bedding does pile up it doesn't spill out.

I do think the tramped down layer of hay is great for stopping the bedding from spilling and the newspaper means I can easily roll it all up prior to removing it from the hutch which also cuts down on the mess I would have had if I tried to sweep it all out. :)
